Iris Nicolae Onea is a student developer, AI builder, and public speaker currently studying at Armand Călinescu Middle School in Curtea de Argeș, Romania. She builds projects at the intersection of AI safety, mental health, and education.
Her flagship project, Blue AI (ai-blue.org), is a safety-first AI companion for young people aged 10–18. It incorporates evidence-based tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, C-SSRS) for emotional awareness, is crisis-aware, and is designed to bridge users to professional help — while remaining strictly non-diagnostic.
Iris reached Semifinalist at Technovation Girls 2024–2025 with StrongerTogether, an anti-bullying app, and won 1st Prize at the County Stage of the ESU National Public Speaking Competition 2025–2026. She is an Ambassador for the Ora de Net digital safety campaign and volunteers with Euroactive NGO.
Beyond code, Iris is an illustrator (published in Ordinul Povestitorilor #19), competitive public speaker, and advocate for responsible AI. She speaks Romanian (native), English (C1), Mandarin (YCT 3), and French (A2).
